Riverbend Youth academy is a new multi-faceted facility located in downtown South Bend. Our campus consists of various programs and supports for individuals with autism spectrum and related disorders.

These programs include, Riverbend residential services which has been designed to meet the unique behavioral needs of children and adolescents with autism, developmental disabilities and pervasive developmental disorders. Sensory rooms, Visual boards, and ABA based behavioral interventions are just a few of the ways in which we have designed our program with the unique needs of the individuals we serve in mind. The center plans to operate inpatient acute and residential services licensed through Indiana’s Family and Social Services and Administration and Department of Children’s Services.

In addition to residential services, our Riverbend Campus will also provide educational services and outpatient programs for individuals with autism spectrum and related neurological disorders. Our school, Gersh Academy has over 25 years of experience in educational services in New York. We provide our students an environment where programs and services are customized around their individual needs. We take a real life academic approach to learning and not only teach academic skills, but employ real world solutions with practical and proven techniques that generate results.

Our outpatient program will offer full and part time ABA and an after school Gersh Academy wrap program. ABA programming is overseen by a Board Certified Behavioral Analyst. It is endorsed by the Surgeon General as a safe and effective treatment for autism spectrum disorders and is backed by years of research. Although it is proven beneficial is many areas, ABA principles and techniques can foster basic skills such as looking, listening and imitating, as well as complex skills such as reading, conversing and understanding another person’s perspective.

More information about behavior analysis and ABA is available at the websites of the Association of Professional Behavior Analysts, the Association for Behavior Analysis International and the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
